Pamela Charney, LCSW

Pamela is a licensed clinical social worker and a qualified supervisor for social work and mental health counseling interns.

After graduating from Touro College in New York City with a bachelor’s degree in social work, Pamela’s first job was working for a foster care agency in Brooklyn, New York. She then earned her master’s degree in social work from Boston University and worked in the Boston area for over ten years with underserved populations. Pamela enjoys talking with prospective social work students about the career path and opportunities within the profession.

Pamela relocated from Boston to Florida to escape the frigid temperatures. She served from 2002-2021 at a community mental health agency in Broward County. Pamela supervised a team who assessed children and families with involvement in the child welfare system. These children and families often struggled with addiction, domestic violence, child abuse, mental health challenges and poverty. Pamela’s clients came from diverse cultural backgrounds. Pamela also supervised a Peer Support program and the Transition to Independence Process (TIP) program, assisting teens and young adults in developing skills for independence.

Pamela received training in Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), which she loves to share with her clients as a basis for self-care (wellnessrecoveryactionplan.com). Pamela is committed to working with underserved populations. She also has extensive knowledge of the LGBTQIA+ and Jewish communities.

Pamela joined Helping Moon Counseling in 2021. Pamela currently accepts Medicare Part B and enjoys working with older adults and clients with disabilities. She focuses on improving one’s day to day life through self-care plans. Pamela is very knowledgeable regarding community resources, which she enjoys sharing with others.

“I am a social worker. I don’t have a magic wand, crystal ball or all the answers, but I do have a heart to care, ears to listen, time to give, ideas to share, and an open mind. I am a social worker. I may not be able to fix all of your problems, but I can promise you won’t have to face them alone. I am here for you.” –Unknown

Pamela also serves as Helping Moon Counseling’s office manager and handles all inquiries for therapy with our practice.
