  • Pamela Charney, LCSW, QS

Hello, my name is Pamela Charney and I want to thank you for taking the time to read my profile. If you are reading this, you are likely seeking a therapist and are trying to determine who would be the best fit for you. Let me share a bit about myself to help you make this most important decision. First and foremost, I believe in treating people with kindness and compassion. I use a gentle approach that focuses on your strengths.

I decided to become a social worker when I was in high school. By the age of 20, I graduated with a degree in psychology and began working as a foster care caseworker. I later earned my masters of social work degree and have remained in this field for over 30 years. Most of my time has been spent in community social work, serving people with limited resources and in need of advocacy. I have supervised various programs at a community mental health center. I am an expert on the resources in our community and encourage my clients to utilize these.

I have worked with clients of all ages, from birth to senior citizens but at this time I am accepting clients who are 18 and older. About half of my practice is working with people who have Medicare. This includes adults who are over 65 and people of all ages with disabilities. Some common concerns that I work with are: depression, anxiety, health concerns, chronic pain, caregiving, grief and relationships with partners and children of any age. My goal is to help you feel better. I believe that self-care is crucial in becoming well and will support you in finding ways to do so.

I’m also committed to serving the LGBTQIA+ community. I provide a space where you can be your authentic self. I support people who are coming out, establishing and maintaining relationships, exploring ways to expand your family, raising children, or coping more effectively with day to day stressors.

My work is infused with and inspired by Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, art/creativity, spirituality, meditation, mindfulness, 12-Step programs, Motivational Interviewing, and more. I appreciate feedback about what is and is not working to guide your journey.

It is my honor to support you in coping with the difficulties you are facing. I promise to be compassionate and dedicated to serving your needs. Please reach out to see if we would be a good team to work on achieving your goals.
