EMDR Intensives

Healing Journey Tailored to Your Needs in a Shorter Period of Time

What is an EMDR Intensive Retreat?

Our EMDR virtual retreats offer a fully customizable, one-on-one healing experience with Luna, designed specifically to address your unique trauma history. Whether you’re dealing with PTSD, childhood trauma, or recent traumatic events, or simply seeking deeper emotional healing and personal growth, our EMDR intensives provide a concentrated path to recovery.

These retreats accelerate progress by condensing the therapeutic work of months into just a single day or a few days, allowing you to immerse yourself in a deeply focused healing process and achieve significant transformation more quickly than traditional therapy.

You can choose between longer intensive sessions in a single day or spread hours throughout several days or a week to match your needs and preferences. The retreat is fully personalized to provide a flexible approach to healing that works with your schedule.

Where Healing Happens: Your Space, Your Comfort

All of our intensives take place virtually, from the comfort of your own home or a location of your choosing within the state of Florida. If you need help with travel accommodations and are located outside the state, we are happy to help.

Telehealth EMDR therapy allows you to process trauma in the familiar and safe environment of your own home, or setting of your choice. This factor can significantly reduce anxiety and feeling over-stimulated or emotionally flooded. Being in a comfortable setting helps ease the stress that can come with in-person sessions, or traveling outside the home, enabling you to feel more relaxed and open to the healing process. This added sense of security can make it easier to face difficult memories, leading to more effective and successful outcomes.

Beyond EMDR: A Holistic Approach to Healing

Beyond EMDR, we integrate mindfulness, meditation, somatic exercises, and other therapeutic interventions tailored to fit your unique needs. No two clients are alike and neither are their traumas and pathways to healing. We combine various techniques in addition to EMDR to accelerate progress and support comprehensive healing. Feeling grounded and supported through this heling process is part of the phase work on EMDR.

Meet Luna, your EMDR Intensive Therapist

Helping Moon Counseling is a family owned business. For several years, I had my own private practice. After a few years of doing this on my own, I realized that I would be able to help more people if we grew the business.

Together, my husband and I decided that we were going to expand the business and hire more therapists on the team. We hand-picked every person on the team, and we feel that we have incredible professionals working with us. Mental health is such an important aspect of life, and we wanted to create a center where everyone can find a therapist who can help them.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is EMDR and how does it work?

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a therapeutic approach used to help individuals heal from trauma and distressing life experiences. It works by guiding the client through a series of bilateral eye movements or other forms of rhythmic stimulation while they focus on a specific memory. This process helps the brain to reprocess the traumatic memory, reducing its emotional intensity and enabling the client to gain a more adaptive understanding. The goal is to help the mind and body heal by reducing the impact of painful memories and promoting a sense of resolution and relief. Do you offer payment plans?

At the time the agreement is signed, the client will pay Luna Medina-Wolf, LMHC, a nonrefundable deposit equal to half the total cost of the Intensive. For example, this would be a $750 deposit per scheduled day for a 1-day EMDR Intensive or a $375 deposit for each half-day EMDR Intensive. The Client may reschedule their EMDR Intensive session up to one week before the scheduled date without penalty. If the Client completes the scheduled EMDR Intensive session(s), the deposit will be applied to the total cost of the session(s) as outlined in the agreement. The remaining balance is due at the beginning of the session.

What if I live outside Florida?

We’re happy to work with clients from outside the state! However, to participate in our intensive program, you’ll need to be physically present within Florida during the sessions. We invite you to visit the Sunshine State for a few days of transformative healing. If you need assistance, we can recommend nearby accommodations to make your stay comfortable and convenient. Feel free to reach out to us for more details and support in planning your visit!

Will there be homework, assignments or reading?

Because this is an intensive workshop we will actually do all the work when we are together. The only “expected homework” would be for you to practice your self soothing or grounding techniques if needed.

How do I know if I need EMDR?

If you feel your life is not where you would like it to be and you feel you have done therapy but you feel you have not been able to reach your full potential, then an intensive might be right for you. EMDR defines trauma in a broader way. It can be related to big T’s that relate to significant events you experience or it can be a collection of many small t’s (million little cuts) related to helicopter parenting or high expectations. Through an intensive, EMDR can help you achieve your mental health goals much faster than other types of therapy by decreasing anxiety and improving your cognitive beliefs.

Why should I do an EMDR intensive vs meeting with a therapist once a week?

EMDR intensives provide a streamlined approach to addressing symptoms, offering a more concentrated and uninterrupted healing experience compared to traditional 50-minute sessions. With the intensive format, the overall treatment time may be significantly reduced, as time typically spent on tasks like: session check-ins, managing immediate crises or concerns, developing coping strategies that may not be necessary post-recovery, etc. are eliminated. This focused approach allows clients to dive deeper into the healing process without the usual session interruptions.

Can I still continue to see my weekly therapist in addition to the EMDR intensive?

Absolutely, we encourage you to continue the work you are doing with your weekly therapist in addition to the EMDR intensive. The intensive sessions are designed to complement your ongoing therapy, allowing you to focus deeply on specific issues while still benefiting from the broader support and guidance your weekly therapist provides. Collaboration between your therapists can also enhance your overall progress and ensure continuity of care.

How many hours and days do I really need for my intensive?

2-3 hours of EMDR therapy provides the opportunity to access powerful resources that can boost confidence and performance, or alleviate the harmful effects of a single traumatic event, such as negative thoughts, nightmares, and distressing emotions or physical sensations. While a short EMDR intensive can lead to meaningful healing, more complex conditions like Complex PTSD (resulting from ongoing, relational trauma or “little t” traumas) often require more extensive treatment. For clients dealing with Complex PTSD, we would want to have additional time and days for your intensive treatment. We will go over this together in the consultation call. We offer an online mini intensive of 3-6 hours. We offer 1-5 days intensives as well.

In the EMDR intensive retreat you will learn techniques to help you feel more grounded and emotionally regulated. However, it’s important to understand that full resolution of symptoms or reaching a specific number of therapy “targets” can’t be guaranteed. Each person’s brain processes things at its own pace, following its own unique path, and we cannot predict exactly how quickly progress will occur.
