Lauren Shapiro, LMHC
Lauren Geller, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, and received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Journalism from The William B. Allen School of Journalism at The University of Kansas. After working in public affairs, Lauren returned to school for her Masters of Science Degree in Professional Counseling from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, where she was inducted into the Psi Chi Honor Society in Psychology and Chi Sigma Iota Counseling, Academic and Professional Honor Society. Lauren completed an internship at a residential alcohol and drug treatment facility for mothers allowed to live with their children while being treated for addiction. Lauren also worked in acute mental health facilities and treatment centers.
As a therapist, Lauren meets her clients where they are, exploring their goals for therapy, and they begin to lay the groundwork for growth together. Lauren takes a cognitive behavioral approach which also includes being trauma informed. Lauren often explores boundaries with her clients, along with learning coping skills for many disorders, including anxiety and depression. Lauren also has a passion for women's issues, and for those women suffering from fertility challenges and postpartum depression.
