Debora Sandler

Hi! I'm Debora Sandler, and I'm thrilled to begin my counseling internship journey as I pursue my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University.

Born and raised in Brazil, I spent years working in Human Resources while also volunteering in my community to support women and teenagers in crisis. I facilitated support groups focused on emotional healing and empowerment for those navigating life with limited social support. That experience awakened in me a deep passion for emotional wellness and reinforced what I've always known counseling is my true calling.

At 35, I moved to Canada, where I worked as a case manager supporting immigrants as they adjusted to a new culture, language, and way of life. Later I relocated to the United States to pursue a master's degree in human resources at Florida International University. During that time, I met my husband and felt it was the right moment to focus on building a family and raising our children. Now, with renewed purpose and life experience, I've returned to school to follow what has always been at the core of who I am mental health counseling.

One quote that deeply resonates with me is by Carl Jung:

"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate."

That truth guided my own journey through therapy, where I faced and healed past wounds. Having experienced the transformative power of therapy, I now want to walk alongside others as they take their steps toward healing and self-discovery.

I have a special interest in trauma work, particularly in supporting young parents who want to raise emotionally healthy children and break cycles of intergenerational pain. I believe there is tremendous power in early emotional education. I'm also drawn to forensic counseling, as I believe in second chances, reintegration, and the healing potential within every person.

Fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, I strive to create a culturally sensitive and inclusive space where clients can express themselves and feel most at home in. I deeply value the role of culture, religion, and family beliefs in shaping who we are, and I approach each client's story with respect and curiosity.

Outside of counseling, I'm a lifelong learner and global soul who dreams in three languages. I cherish connecting with people from different backgrounds, and I believe every culture holds wisdom worth honoring.

I'm honored to begin this new chapter and can't wait to walk beside you as you uncover your inner strength. Healing is possible and you don't have to do it alone.
