Sophia Rocha
Welcome! My name is Sophia Rocha, and I am a counseling intern who is passionate about supporting individuals as they navigate life's challenges, healing, and personal growth. I believe therapy is a collaborative and empowering process, and I strive to create a warm, supportive space where clients feel heard, and respected.
I earned my Bachelors in Psychology from Iowa State University in 2023 and am currently completing my clinical internship with Helping Moon while pursuing a Master in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Barry University. My training emphasizes ethical, compassionate, and client-centered care.
My clinical experience includes working with individuals facing substance use, as well as co-occurring mental health challenges. I approach this work with empathy and respect, recognizing the strength it takes to seek support and make change.
I am bilingual (English/Portuguese) and was raised both in South Florida and Brazil, experiences that have shaped my appreciation for cultural identity, family systems, and diverse lived experiences. I value culturally responsive care and aim to create an inclusive and affirming therapeutic environment.
My therapeutic approach is client-centered with a solution-focused emphasis, meaning I work collaboratively with clients to identify strengths, set meaningful goals, and build practical tools that support positive change. Whether you are navigating stress, recovery, life transitions, or personal growth, my goal is to meet you where you are and support progress at your own pace.
Choosing a counselor is a deeply personal decision, and I feel honored to be considered. I look forward to the opportunity to work together in a space grounded in trust, collaboration, and hope.
