When you are seeking assistance with your mental health, it’s hard to know where to begin. Reading multiple therapist profiles can be overwhelming. Deciding to do therapy is a decision of paramount courage. You need a place where you can share your innermost thoughts, feelings and emotions. Perhaps one of the most important factors is the connection between the therapist and client. If that is not present, then the therapy process would not be effective. I want to be that therapist for you where you can connect with me, be yourself with me, and have that trusting and comfortable relationship!

My name is Tanzilla Jahan, and you can read about my qualifications and education below. I acquired my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2020. I am working with Mrs. Luna Medina Wolf, LMHC, toward my licensure.

    Therapist

I describe myself as an “individualized therapist” because I use a diverse approach when it comes to clients. When we first meet, I will look at why you are seeking services, what are your concerns, needs and wants and which modality will best meet your needs. I think outside of the box and welcome your feedback, to make your therapy as effective as possible. I am committed to learning new techniques and tools and gaining more knowledge to be an effective therapist.

    Teamwork

Teamwork and open communication are exceedingly significant in overcoming challenges. As a therapist, I believe in collaborating with my clients by teaching and providing them with the necessary tools to overcome the challenges to move forward in the positive direction they are looking for. My objective is to formulate a collaborative team with you as my client to tackle your concerns and work together to resolve the concerns.

Modalities I Utilize and Apply in Therapy

My therapeutic approach is to aid my clients by providing a safe outlet whereby they can be comfortable, safe, and themselves. I am very client focused as I focus primarily on my client; hence I tailor my therapy style to that of my clients. Furthermore, I am well informed in these modalities: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and other evidence-based theoretical orientations.

I speak fluent English and Bengali.
