Zuzanna Maciejewska
Hello! My name is Zuzanna Maciejewska, and I am a graduate counseling intern at Helping Moon Counseling. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at National Louis University. I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and a Master’s degree in Post-Professional Athletic Training Practice.
Before entering the counseling field, I spent many years as a competitive tennis player and as an athletic trainer. These experiences sparked my interest in the connection between physical health, performance, and mental well-being. As I witnessed firsthand how athletes navigate pressure, injury, and recovery, I decided to pursue counseling and focus more deeply on the mental aspect of our overall well-being.
Originally from Poland, I immigrated to the United States, and I am bilingual in Polish and English. Experiencing life across multiple cultures deepened my understanding of how culture, identity, and life transitions can affect mental health and personal growth.
In my counseling work, I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), and existentialism. While I am prepared to support clients with a wide range of concerns, I am particularly interested in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, phobias, OCD, chronic illness, performance pressure, and identity shifts related to sport or major life changes.
During sessions, I strive to create a supportive and collaborative environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their experiences and developing new coping skills and strategies. During our work together, I will encourage you to challenge your current beliefs and explore new behaviors that will help you step out of your comfort zone and support your growth.
It would be a privilege to be part of your counseling journey, and I am honored to be considered as a potential support in your life. My goal is to meet clients with curiosity, respect, and a genuine commitment to helping them move toward meaningful and lasting change.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy talking about all things Star Wars, watching musicals, and quoting Hamilton a little more often than I probably should. Like Aaron Burr in the musical, I believe that “I am the one thing in life I can control,” while still leaving room for the unpredictable moments life brings our way.
